The Atlanta Braves have placed first basemen Freddie Freeman on the disabled list. Freeman is dealing with a strained right oblique.

While Freeman believes he could play though the injury the Braves are going to play it safe and allow Freeman to heal. Freeman is expected to be out 2-3 weeks.

This will also give manager Fredie Gonzalez additional time to play Juan Francisco and Chris Johnson.

Francisco will continue to play third base while Johnson will move to first. Blake DeWitt has been recalled from Gwinnett to fill the roster space of Freeman.

Though the Braves first five games Freeman had a .412/.474/.647 line and had driven in seven runs.
