Dodgers facing trouble in placing Kevin Gregg on roster

The Los Angeles Dodgers are trying hard to find a spot for Kevin Gregg on their major league roster. Gregg signed a minor league deal with the Dodgers shortly before camp started and was nearly un-hittable during spring action.

Gregg’s roster spot on the Dodgers is blocked by guaranteed contracts, more specifically a glut of starting pitchers the Dodgers have been unable to trade.

Unless the Dodgers find a trade partner for Aaron Harang or Chris Capuano the 34-year-old Gregg will be left off the roster. In fact Gregg may not even be on the Dodgers this time next week as he can refuse a minor league assignment.

“The way last year ended, the way the offseason unfolded, you’re not a competitor if you don’t have a little fire to show your abilities,” Gregg said via ESPN Los Angeles.

Gregg had a 4.95 ERA and 1.695 WHIP last season before being released by the Baltimore Orioles.
