The deal between Francisco Liriano and the Pittsburgh Pirates has been finalized. Liriano will be guaranteed only $1 million during the 2013 season with a vesting option for 2014.
Incentives in the deal could push the total of Liriano’s deal to the previously announced total of $12.75 over two-years. Liriano, 29, injured hi non-throwing arm with a fall in the bathroom after the two sides had agreed to the original deal.
Last season Liriano spent time with the Twins and White Sox finishing with a 6-12 record and a 5.34 ERA.
The Pirates are hoping that they can catch lightning in a bottle with Liriano by placing him in the middle of their rotation.
