Kevin Millwood has retired from baseball. the 38-year-old starting pitcher pitched for 16 seasons at the major league level.
Millwood had hoped to latch onto a team who was located close to his Georiga home but never got a call.
“I feel like I can still throw it well and going out on a high note is a big deal,” Millwood said. “I just felt it was time to be closer to home and to be around the kids more often.”
Millwood retires with a 169-152 career record. He accumulated a 4.11 ERA and a 1.33 WHIP while spending time with Atlanta, Philadelphia, Cleveland, Texas, Baltimore, Colorado, and Seattle. Millwood threw a no-hitter while with the Phillies. He was also part of a combined no-hitter on June 8th of 2012 while with the Mariners.
