Yankees and Ichrio deal could be worth $12 million

If Ichiro Suzuki returns to the New York Yankees it will likely be on a two year deal. The Yankees had been hoping to re-sign Suzuki on a one-year deal to play in the teams outfield.

After it was reported that Suzuki turned down a two year offer from the Phillies, Jon Heyman reports that the Yankees realized that they would have to offer the 39-year-old a second year.

While Suzuki had offers from other teams, he has stated all off season that he wanted to remain with the Yankees.

The Yankees acquired Suzuki from the Seattle Mariners at the trade deadline last season. Once acquired, Suzuki hit .322 in 67 games for the Yankees. He was one of the few offensive pieces who produced in the post season.

Suzuki finished the 2012 season with a .283/.307/.390 line.
