Houston Texans at New England Patriots point spread, line and odds

The Houston Texans will go into Foxborough and play against the New England Patriots. Scheduled for an 8:30 p.m. EST kickoff this game will air on ESPN’s coverage of Monday Night Football.

It is not often that you get to see two of the top teams in the NFL play against each other during the season. The Texans (11-1) have been viewed as a Super Bowl team all season and the Patriots (9-3) are showing that they too belong in that discussion, though who could have counted them out?

What is the spread in the Texans and Patriots game? The Patriots are 5.5 point favorites against the Texans. The over/under for this game is set at 52 points.

PASSING RUSHING DEF PASS DEF RUSH PPG PA
NE 285.5 (5th) 140.8 (8th) 279.9 (29th) 100.8 (8th) 35.8 (1st) 21.7 (16th)
HOU 247.1 (10th) 142.5 (6th) 235.0 (17th) 87.6 (2nd) 29.3 (2nd) 18.4 (4th)

Much will be made about the quarterback match-up between Tom Brady and Matt Schaub. There are plenty of other match-ups that will also be worth taking a hard look at.

Both teams have good ground games and have done their share to stop the run. Though some of the defensive stats against the run may be altered because both of these teams are typically in the lead forcing their opponents to turn to the pass more often.

New England is first in points scored, Houston is fifth. The Texans have been one of the best defenses all season in almost every category and J.J. Watt is deserving of the NFL MVP talk that has been said about him. The Patriots on the other hand are middle of the pack in points allowed by again their total points scored should be factored in.

Can the Texans get a signature win on the road? Will the Patriots halt them in their tracks tonight? What do you think?
