Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger won’t be playing this weekend against the Baltimore Ravens, as the Steelers have decided to take no chances with Big Ben and sit him, Jay Glazer reports.
Roethlisberger was injured during Monday nights game against Kansas City, when he was sacked, by Chiefs Justin Houston during his first possession of the third quarter. It was later released that Roethlisberger suffered a SC (sternoclavicular) sprain in his right shoulder.
While much of the talk about Roethlisberger has centered around his throwing shoulder it is worth mentioning that ESPN’s Adam Schefter notes that the rib injury sustained by Roethlisberger is “rare and dangerous.” Shefter notes that “Doctors are concerned that Ben Roethlisberger’s rib injury could lead to more internal damage if he were to play Sunday.”
More information will be released later this week about Roethlisberger’s status for the remainder of the season.
Bryon Leftwich will get the start against Baltimore. The Steelers play two of their next three games against the Baltimore Ravens. Since drafting Roethlisberger the Steelers are 0-4 against the Ravens in games he has not played in.
