Mets seeking to trade R.A. Dickey as contract talks stall

R.A. Dickey had been talking with the New York Mets about a contract extension. Now it appears the New York Mets are fielding offers for the 38-year-old  knuckleballer.

It was assumed that the Mets would make an extension with Dickey a top priority this off season. Dickey is under contract for the 2013 season afor just $5 million but wants a multi-year deal.

However, today Fox Sports’ Ken Rosenthal said that the Mets are “showing little interest in signing Dickey to extension, discussing him in trades.”

Dickey had another strong season with the Mets in 2012. He posted a 2.73 ERA, 1.05 WHIp and a 230/54 K/BB ratio in 233 2/3 innings. The strike out and innings pitched numbers were tops in the NL. Dickey was selected to his first all star team this season.

Since joining the Mets Dickey owns a 39-28 record and a 2.95 ERA
