Brian Cashman: “We’re not trading Alex”

The New York Yankees are not trading Alex Rodriguez. General manager, Brian Cashman would prefer if all the talk about Rodriguez’s status as a Yankee would go away.

“I’ve already been on record right after the postseason, we’re not trading Alex,” he said. “So hopefully the Alex stuff stops. I’m reiterating, we’re not trading Alex Rodriguez. I’ve talked to every team in baseball, I have not offered Alex in any trade, and you’ll be able to confirm that with them.”

This is not the first time that Cashman has said that Rodriguez will remain with the Yankees. Both Cashman and Rodriguez said following the ALCS that the third basemen would be back with the team.

“I will be back, and I have a lot to prove, and I will come back on a mission. … I’ve never thought about going to another team. My focus is to stay here. Let’s make that very, very clear.” said Rodriguez

Rodriguez has five years and $114 million remaining on his contract with the Yankees. Asked whether another team had inquired about Rodriguez the general manager responded “No. They probably read my comments.”

Rodriguez has taken much of the blame of the Yankees failures in the post season this year. Then again getting paid $29 million to go 3-for-25 in the post season is a huge reason why.
