Pierre Garcon says surgery may be an option

Surgery may be in the future of Washington Redskins wide receiver Pierre Garcon. Dealing with a plantar plate tear in his right foot the off season acquisition has only appeared in two games and has no timetable for returning to the field.

“There’s no real update or miracle that happened overnight,” Garcon said. “We’re going to try to go after the bye, see how it feels. But we’re still trying to get as much pain out of it as we can.”

Garcon plans to rest his foot and then test it out after the bye week.

The Redskins have lost three straight games to fall to 3-6 and are hanging on to slim playoff chances. Garcon will likely opt for surgery should the Redskins lose a seventh game soon.

“We’re trying to avoid that at all possible costs,” he said. “But at some time you’ve got to be realistic and you’ve just got to have it and hopefully it’s a successful surgery and recover from it.”
