The Los Angeles Angels have been trying to find trade partners for Dan Haren and/or Ervin Santana. Santana has been traded to the Kansas City Royals according to FOX Sport’s Ken Rosenthal.
The Angels held a $13 million club option for 2013 for Santana. The 29-year-old right-hander was a disappointing 9-13 last season for an Angels team that finished third in the American League West. Santana had a 5.17 ERA and a 1.27 WHIP in 178 innings.
Rosenthal notes that the Angels will receive reliever Brandon Sisk and cash considerations in return for Santana. The 27-year-old Sisk appeared in 50 games for Triple-A Omaha last season compiling a 2.54 ERA and a 1.35 WHIP. If Sisk makes the Angles bullpen his biggest asset may be his 9.9 SO/9 he has over his five year minor league career.
It is unclear if the Angels will continue to shop Haren.
