Keselowski likes the 2013 Cup car

Brad Keselowski differed from those who talked about the aerodynamic problems of the 2013 Sprint Cup cars. Keselowski was given a chance on Tuesday and Wednesday to test the 2013 Ford Fusion at Phoenix. Keselowski’s chance to drive the car was the first tire test at a one-mile flat track.

“I thought it was a great test,” Keselowski told the NASCAR Wire Service. “I had heard rumors that things weren’t going so well with that car, so it felt good to kind of just do it on my own and see what was really going on. I thought the test went really well. The cars seemed to have a lot of drivability, and it’s easy to work backwards from there, because certainly we have to balance that, if we make the cars too easy to drive then that’s not going to be great, but they also have to be drivable. And you’d rather start with drivable and work backwards than the alternative.”

Keselowski enters Sunday’s race at Martinsville with a seven point lead over Jimmie Johnson. Denny Hamlin is twenty points behind Keselowski while Clint Bowyer hangs around twenty-five points out of the lead.

Johnson claimed the pole for the race weekend, Keselowski will have to start from 32nd spot. (Entire race lineup here)
