Carolina Panthers fire GM following teams loss

The Carolina Panthers are  since the start of the 2010 season. Following Sunday’s loss to the Dallas Cowboys the Panthers found themselves 1-5 on the season. Panthers quarterback Cam Newton said that the team needed to take accountability for losing.

On Monday morning the team fired it’s general manager.Marty Hurney had been the general manager of the team since 2002 and had helped build a team that appeared in two NFC Championship games as well as the 2003 Super Bowl but with the Panthers not having a winning season since 2008 the team felt a change needed to be made.

“I understand this decision by [Panthers owner Jerry Richardson] and will always have an extremely close relationship with him. I consider him the best owner in the NFL,” Hurney said in a statement. “I am responsible for everybody in coaching, the players, the scouts and everybody in football operations.”
