Citing earlier events in the race, Danica Patrick did not have a problem with her making contact with the No. 83 car of Landon Cassill. Patrick made contact with Cassill after he passed her and then attempted to move in front of her in turn one of Kansas Speedway.
It was at that moment that Patrick made contact with the rear end of Cassill’s car and then tapped the left rear. Both cars would get sideways but it was the No. 10 car of Patrick that would hit the wall and be knocked from the race.
The crew chief for Patrick told her over the scanner that “you know better then to do that” following the incident.
“I’ve just been frustrated with the 83” Patrick would say in a post race interview with ESPN. “Ive always played fair…. It’s been pretty consistent.. I’ve got to stand up for myself or everyone is going to do it.”
Following Patrick’s attempted wreck of him Cassill radioed “rule number one in stock car racing is learn how to wreck someone without wrecking yourself.”
