Steelers rookie Alameda Ta’amu arrested for drunk driving, fleeing scene

Pittsburgh Steelers rookie NT Alameda Ta’amu was arrested early Sunday morning for drunken driving. Ta’mu reportedly crashed into several vehicles before attemping to flee the scene.

NBC Sports reports that Ta’amu is facing felony counts of fleeing from the police, aggravated assault while driving drunk and ten misdemeanors including resisting arrest, attempting escape and failure to obey traffic laws.

Should the NFL take action the Steelers will not miss the play of Ta’amu as the fourth round pick out of Washington has yet to appear in a game.

Ta’amu arrived to Steelers training camp out of shape. He was encouraged to get in shape. Veterans on the team asked him to get some snacks from Wal-Mart, which they told him was a mile away. Ta’mu noticed that the walk to Wal-Mart was three miles after consulting his phone on the walk and also injured his foot.

According to the police report a hearing has been scheduled for October 23.
