Troy Polamalu won’t play Thursday against Titans

Troy Polamalu, safety for the Pittsburgh Steelers won’t play against the Tennessee Titans on Thursday. Ed Bouchette tweeted the news earlier this afternoon.

Polamalu aggravated his strained right calf Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles when he was in coverage during a pass. He pulled up shortly after the whistle and noticeably limped to the sideline and spent the rest of the game on the bench.

Polamalu had originally sustained the injury before a playoff game last season against the Denver Broncos.  Thursday will mark the third game Polamalu will have missed dealing with the same injury. Sunday was his first game back in action after having missed the first two games on the season.

ESPN had a comment from Steelers safety Ryan Clark talking about how hard it is for him to watch Polamalu go through what he has by saying,  “I almost had a mental collapse when I saw him get hurt. Sometimes I think my love for him is a negative. When he’s not playing, I want him out there. It’s no indictment on the guys who come in. But part of why I play here and part of why I come back every year is to play with him.”
