Indianapolis Colts Coach Chuck Pagano diagnosed with Leukemia

Indianapolis Colts’ Coach Chuck Pagano has been diagnosed with a treatable form of leukemia. Leukemia is a form of cancer that affects the blood or bone marrow characterized by an abnormal increase of immature white blood cells called “blasts”. Leukemia is a broad term covering a spectrum of diseases. In turn, it is part of the even broader group of diseases affecting the blood, bone marrow, and lymphoid system, which are all known as hematological neoplasms.

The Indianapolis Star said that Pagano underwent blood test after feeling abnormally tired over the last few weeks. The Colts’ are optimistic about his recovery and will be holding a press conference on Monday.

ESPN has said that he will miss the next six weeks undergoing treatment. Offensive coordinator Bruce Arians is expected to take over the head coaching duties in Pagano’s absence.
