Kurt Busch Driving Furniture Row Racing No.78 Starting at Charlotte

Kurt Busch, 2004 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Champion and driver of the No. 51 Chevrolet for Phoenix Racing  is rumored to be headed to his new ride earlier than initially expected.

Busch who has only finished in the top ten two times this season with Phoenix Racing is in need of a change, and its better that it comes sooner than later.

It was announced two days ago that Busch would be taking over Regan Smith’s No.78 Chevrolet at Furniture Row Racing in 2013 but now SPEED’s RaceHub reported on Wednesday night that Busch is expected to be in the car starting at Charlotte Motor Speedway and then for the rest of the 2012 season.

Smith will be driving the car this weekend at Dover and the following weekend at Talladega, but then he is out and Busch is in.

What does this mean for Smith for this year? There has been no official release but it seems like his season has been cut short.

As for next season there have been some rumors of him possibly joining J.R Motorsports as he has a working history with Ryan Pemberton back from 2007 when he raced at Ginn Racing, but he knows “There’s not a lot out there right now” and that “You just have to wait and see.”

Smith said he loves racing, and intends to being in a race car in 2013. “I haven’t peaked as a driver yet so I feel good where I’m at in my career. We just have to find that right match going forward.” Smith said.
