Joey Logano Finally Captures First Nationwide Win at Bristol

Joey Logano, the 22 year old driver of the No.18 Dollar General Toyota for Joe Gibbs Racing in the NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) won tonight’s NNS race at Bristol Motor Speedway (BMS).

Logano found himself behind Kevin Harvick, but was fortunate enough to benefit off a series of late cautions, one which was of Harvick’s misfortune when he ran out of gas on pit road. Logano was able to hold onto the lead to win his first Nationwide race at the famed 0.533 mile track.

Logano had finished in the top five his last 4 races at BMS. In the Spring race, Logano started on the pole position and finished fourth. Last seasons Spring and Fall races he finished fifth and second, respectively.

Last years champion, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. finished second and was followed by Kyle Busch, Austin Dillon and Elliott Sadler to round out the top five.

Stenhouse got into Sadler on the final restart of the race and immediately after the checkered flag waved, Stenhouse jumped out of his car to apologize to Sadler. It was too late, as Sadler said the door has been opened for them to race each other hard over the stretch for the championship. Sadler said that he should of finished at least second but didn’t because of that incident.
