He’s back… and he’s Nationwide! John Wes Townley

John Wes Townley has been running the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series schedule but on Friday night he will get the chance to drive the No. 99 RAB Racing Toyota in the Nationwide Series. Townley will drive a car with the red and yellow paint scheme of his family owned Zaxby’s chicken in the Food City 250 at Bristol Motor Speedway.

“Friday will be dedicated to our Zaxby’s Camry. This will be the first time most of us will get to try out the new surface, other than the Cup drivers that participated in the tire test. So, I think it may give us a little bit of an advantage on the Nationwide side with the experience I’ll get on Wednesday night.”

On Wednesday night, Tonwley drove the No. 09 truck with Zaxby’s colors toa  24th place finish. He ended the race two laps down.

In four Nationwide Series starts at the .533-mile oval, Townley has posted one top-20 finish, in 2009′s Scotts Turf Builder 300.

RAB Racing is in a alliance with Michael Waltrip Racing. The No. 99 car is fielded for Travis Pastrana during his limited race schedule. Earlier this year the car was numbered 09 and driven by Kenny Wallace. Wallace occasionally runs a second car for the team.
