Aaron Fike has been reinstated by NASCAR. The now 29 year-old driver was suspended by NASCAR in 2007 after he was arrested for possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia. Fike was driving for Red Horse Racing at the time of the suspension.
The non profit group ‘Racing Against Drugs’ was created by Fike as part of his plea deal. He subsequently served two years of probation instead of a potential year of jail time.
In 2008 he told ESPN that he used pain killers and heroin for years, including on race days. He had never tested positive for any banned substance prior to his arrest in 2007.
