Robby Gordon dropping races from schedule

Veteran racer Robby Gordon’s days at a NASCAR track appear to becoming fewer and fewer. Gordon has failed to qualify for multiple races this season and after missing Sunday’s race at Auto Club Speedway in California the driver/owner of the #7 said he would not be visiting Martinsville or Texas.

Gordon says the team would likely make it’s next appearance on track at the road course in Sonoma. Gordon has been successful in his career at the track and would use the event as a chance to attract sponsorship.

Without the benefit of a top-35 position in the NASCAR Sprint Cup owner points Gordon has been forced to qualify for each event. He missed the field on time at Las Vegas as well as California and his car would not fire at Bristol which left him forced to withdraw from the event.

Gordon is still marketing his Speed Energy drink which he hopes will eventually be able to field his Sprint Cup efforts. Gordon denied earlier this year that he was considering shutting down the team or selling it but did say he was still looking for investors.

Sonoma will be run in July, Gordon fished 18th there last season.

Update: As expected the #7 car has been withdrawn from the entry list for the Sprint Cup race at Martinsville.
