Kenny Wallace may lose Nationwide ride

Kenny Wallace worked hard last season trying to make something out of the little that RAB had. Entering the second weekend of the NASCAR season it’s looking like Wallace may lose his ride in the #09 car due to lack of sponsorship.

Wallace has sponsorship for the next four races coming from American Ethanol and Family Farmers but after that team owner Robby Benton has told the veteran driver that he will sell the car out. Selling the car out would likely mean that Benton would place someone in the car who would provide him the most money on a given weekend is what Wallace has implied.

“He’s already got some little rich kids calling about buying races, so I may be out of the car pretty soon. I’m heartbroken,” said Wallace. “I worked my ass off last year to get my dignity back and prove to everyone that we could still run up front. And look at me now, running around like a bozo in a plain black car. It’s demoralizing. I can’t find any more money, so it looks like I’m not going to be a full time driver this year. If I don’t have any money after California, the ride will go to whoever has money. Robby has to pay his crew, and I understand that.”(GodfatherMotorsports.com)(3-2-2012)

Wallace attempted to make the Sprint Cup Daytona 500 with the team last weekend but failed. If Wallace does indeed lose his ride he could fine another low level team to pick him up, however his brothers Rusty Wallace Racing closed it’s doors over the winter after it could not find sponsorship for Rusty’s son Steve.

In total Kenny Wallace has made 523 career starts at the Nationwide level and has 9 career wins.
