Go Green Racing announces Joey Gase as driver

Joey Gase will be the driver of the #39 Go Green Racing Ford Mustang in 2012. The 18 year old driver from Cedar Rapids Iowa will run for rookie of the year honors in the series and competed in five events for the team last season.

Gase’s best finish for the team was a 20th place run at Iowa and he managed to keep the car running for all five of the events he was a part of. In total Gase completed 98.2% of the laps run during those five races.

As reported earlier the team is still looking to run a second team with a rotation of drivers.

Gase began his racing career at at Hawkeye Downs Speedway, running modifieds and became the track’s youngest late model seasons points champion in 2009 at age 16.

He looks forward to the opportunity of running for the rookie of the year award at the Nationwide level.

“I really feel like we can hold our own in the Title hunt,” Gase said. “We have a great team, support (from Roush Fenway Racing), and now we just need to go out there and let our performance speak for itself. There has been a lot of expansion and changes in the off season and I can’t wait for Daytona.”
