Trevor Bayne wins Daytona 500

Roughly six months ago Trevor Bayne was a talented driver in the Nationwide Series for Michael Waltrip Racing. Then he was released over concerns about sponsorship for 2011, despite winning a string of poles. In a moments notice he was signed by car owner Jack Roush and then made his Sprint Cup debut at Texas behind the wheel of the famed #21 Wood Brothers ride.

Bayne was scheduled to run 17 races this season for the Wood Brothers, who are getting support from Roush-Fenway. Then the unthinkable happened. Even though Bayne was towards the top of the speed charts, initially qualified third for the 500 and followed Jeff Gordon during the Gatorade 125 you would of had a tough time believing a kid who just turned 20 on Saturday could win the Super Bowl of stock car racing.

And then it happened.
