Vince Young may have been the headline going into the match-up of 0-6 Tennessee and 3-3 Jacksonville but if the Titans were to finaly crack the win column it likely had more to do with the legs of running back Chris Johnson.
While Vince Young played well completing 15-of-18 for 125 yards and a touchdown, at times the biggest players of the game were the result of him handing the ball to Johnson. Johnson rumbled all over the Jaguars which had averaged 3.8 yards per rush on the year. Johnson toted the ball 24 times for 228 yards an average of 9.5 yards per carry including a 89 yard run in the fourth quarter that put the game away. In the third quarter Johnson ran a 58 yard run for a touch down as well.
Lendale White and Young also got involved in the running attack with 47 and 30 yards pushing the Titans to 305 yards on the ground.
Johnson wasn’t the only running back breaking off big runs in the game. Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew broke off a 80 yard run in the second quarter and then a 70 yard run to start the third quarter as he finished with 177 total yards.
The Titans head out to San Fransisco next week before coming back home to host the Buffalo Bills.
