The WWE is constantly pushing current events into their story-lines, whether it is a passing comment or an active segment on the show.
On Monday night Bad News Barrett, a heel who delivers bad news on a weekly basis, came out prior to his match to talk about how his opponent Dolph Ziggler would be forced to change his name after losing tonight much like the “racist constantly losing NFL team, thank you very much.”
Of course BNB was referring to the Washington Redskins who recently had their trademark pulled.
Needless to say the comment had a mixed to negative reaction among the fans in attendance. For his part Ziggler has kept his head up despite being buried on television in recent months.
Like it or not you have to hand it to the WWE for staying abreast of current events and zinging the local fans when possible.
Update: Bad News Barrett defeated Dolph Ziggler. Both men will be in the Money in the Bank ladder match for the No. 1 contender to the WWE World Heavyweight Championship on Sunday.
