It’s a new year and the first WWE Smackdown took place in 2013!  Roll out the slow clap but do read the results for the event.

The matches from Smackdown were taped on Sunday, prior to WWE Monday Night Raw airing live.

Below are the results for WWE Smackdown on January 3, 2014

The Usos defeat The Shield by disqualification when Dean Ambrose interferes in the match. The three men gang up on the Usos and beat them down until CM Punk runs out to make the save. Smackdown General Manager Vickie Guerrero comes out and sets up a six-man tag team match between The Shield and The Usos and Punk for later in the night.

R-Truth defeats Fandango in the second match of the night when The Funkadactyls (Cameron and Naomi) come out onto the stage and start to dance. This distracts Fandango, which allows Truth to pick up the win.

He challenges Lesnar to a match on next week’s Raw. Curtis Axel then appears and sets up a match between himself and Langston for later in the night.

Cody Rhodes and Goldust retain their WWE Tag Team Championships against Luke Harper and Erick Rowan of the Wyatt Family. The champs roll up the challengers to get the win.

Nikki Bella defeats Aksana

Big E. Langston defeats Curtis Axel when he plants him with the Big Ending.

CM Punk and The Usos defeat The Shield in the main event when Punk hits the GTS on Ambrose to earn the win.
