On Monday he was to report to the Ravens offseason workout program only to send a text to <a href=\"http:\/\/espn.go.com\/nfl\/story\/_\/id\/10816723\/rolando-mcclain-baltimore-ravens-retires-again\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">ESPN.com<\/a> saying, &#8220;I gotta follow my heart. It ain&#8217;t football. If football made me complete I would play. But whenever I think of it my heart pulls me away from whatever reason. &#8230; This means I&#8217;m done.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Now I know God has something else planned for me and that my life is bigger than football,&#8221; he said in the text.<\/p>\n<p>McClain has not played in the NFL since 2012 and was considered a long-shot to make the Ravens roster.<\/p>\n<p>The Oakland Raiders initially drafted McClain with the No. 8 overall pick in 2010.<\/p>\n<p>He would record 246 tackles and 6.5 sacks in his three seasons in Oakland, while also dealing with a string of off the field issues which included three arrests in a 11-month period.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Rolando McClain is retiring from the NFL for the second time in a year.
