\nNeedless to say the NFL career of Jimmy Clausen has not gone as planned since he left Notre Dame.<\/p>\n

Now the quarterback is healthy again and hopeful for another chance.<\/p>\n

“That’s what I want,” Clausen told USA TODAY<\/a>. “The only thing I can ask for is an opportunity \u2014 a legit opportunity to compete to be a No. 2 and hopefully work my way up.”<\/p>\n

Clausen’s rookie contract came to an end after last season, a year he spent on injured reserve after tearing the labrum in his right shoulder in the final preseason game.<\/p>\n

The best case for Clausen would be to latch on to a team and work his way up the depth chart. While some may have a hard time envisioning the now 26-year-old as a starter in the league stranger things have happened.<\/p>\n

Clausen has not thrown a regular season pass since his disastrous rookie season in 2010. That year Clausen appeared in 13 games completing 52.5-percent of his passes for 1,558 yards, three touchdowns and nine interceptions. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
