The Philadelphia Eagles have released three-time Pro Bowl wide receiver DeSean Jackson.<\/p>\n

News of Jackson’s release came moments after a Newark Star Ledger<\/a> report detailed how two of Jackson’s associates have been linked by police to homicides in 2010.<\/p>\n

The Eagles released the following announcement on twitter confirming the news:<\/p>\n

After careful consideration this offseason, Eagles decide to part ways with DeSean Jackson. The team informed him of his release today.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

According to the Ledger’s sources, the Eagles made the decision to release Jackson based on a variety of reasons which included his constant missing of team meetings and attitude.<\/p>\n

An \u00a0investigation by the Ledger also revealed that Jackson was arrested in 2009 for possession of marijuana, but the charges were later dropped.<\/p>\n

Jackson was set to count $12 million against the salary cap and there had been numerous reports linking him to a trade or release this offseason.<\/p>\n

After being selected in the second-round of the 2008 NFL Draft, Jackson accumulated 356 catches for 6,117 yards and 32 touchdowns. He also was a key part of the Eagles return game and saw time running the ball on gadget plays.<\/span><\/p>\n

Teams known to have interest in Jackson include the San Francisco 49ers, Seattle Seahawks, New York Jets and Carolina Panthers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
