Free agent cornerback Brandon Browner has signed a three-year deal with the New England Patriots.<\/p>\n

Browner, 29, also received interest from the Washington Redskins, New Orleans Saints and New York Jets but ended up signing with New England. His $5.6 million annually salary places near the top of the cornerback market.<\/p>\n

Filed to ESPN: CB Brandon Browner told me he’s agreed to join the Patriots. “I’m taking a 3-year deal to play for New England.”<\/p>\n

Upon signing with the Patriots, Browner posted the following message<\/a> to his twitter account.<\/p>\n

“Today, I am proud to announce that I am a New England Patriot. I am honored\u00a0that the Patriots are making me part of their \u00a0legendary organization, and am\u00a0grateful for the opportunity Mr. Kraft, Coach Belichick, Nick Caserio and\u00a0the entire team have \u00a0given me. I intend to diligently work with the same\u00a0passion and dedication that I have displayed since coming into the NFL to
\nuphold the great traditions and qualities that are embodied by the Patriots.<\/p>\n

I would be remiss if I didn\u2019t thank the Seattle Seahawks for giving a CFL\u00a0player the once in-a-lifetime opportunity to return to the NFL, making a\u00a0young boy’s dream come true. To Coach Pete Carroll, GM John Schneider, John\u00a0Idzik, Coach Richard, Rocky Seto, the LOB, my teammates, the training staff, the equipment guys the Seahawks organization as a whole and most importantly the 12th Man, I say thank you for everything you have done for myself and my family.\u00a0I am a truly blessed person.”<\/p>\n

The Patriots will be without Browner for the first four games of the 2014 season as he serves a suspension for a second PED test. Once he returns he should start opposite Darrelle Revis and form one of, if not, he best duos in the NFL.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
