First the team <a title=\"Steelers give two-year extension to Heath Miller\" href=\"http:\/\/tireball.com\/nfl\/2014\/03\/05\/steelers-give-two-year-extension-to-heath-miller\/\">extended tight end<\/a> Heath Miller, now they have done the same with safety Troy Polamalu.<\/p>\n<p>Polamalu was given a two-year extension by the Steelers which will keep him under contract though the 2016 season.<\/p>\n<p>Previously Polamalu was to count $10.8 million against the salary cap as he was to earn $8.25 million this season. Both numbers shrink under terms of the new deal. His new deal is for a total of \u00a0$20 million that saves the Steelers $4.5 million against the cap this season reports <a href=\"http:\/\/m.espn.go.com\/general\/story?storyId=10556541\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">ESPN<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Polamalu appeared in all 16 games last season and has been a key player to the Steelers defense since he was drafted by the in 2003. In his 12-year career, Polamalu\u00a0710 tackles, 32 interceptions and 13 forced fumbles with the Steelers.
