The San Francisco 49ers are trying to work out a long term deal with quarterback Colin Kaepernick.<\/p>\n

Kaepernick, 26, is 17-6 as a starter and has already been to a Super Bowl and two NFC Championship games.\u00a0Those stats numbers have Kaepernick seeking out a deal that rivals the ones given to Tony Romo and Jay Cutler according to the Boston Globe<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Romo was given a deal which will pay him $18 million a season, with $40 million guaranteed while Cutler is currently making $18.1 million with $38 million guaranteed.<\/p>\n

It is hard to envision the 49ers not re-signing Kaepernick but things could get interesting if he is left to play with his base salary of just \u00a0$973,766 in 2014.<\/span><\/p>\n

Kaepernick completed 58.4-percent of his passes last season for 3,197 yards, 21 touchdowns and eight interceptions. He added another 524 yards rushing with four touchdowns.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
