(Oh I hate that line)<\/p>\n<p>When the season was over Elam figured it was time to go into retail. Elam was hired to work at a Finish Line mall in Gainesville, FL.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI just need to get retail knowledge,\u201d Elam told the Ravens <a href=\"http:\/\/www.baltimoreravens.com\/news\/article-1\/Matt-Elam-Explains-Why-He-Took-Job-At-Finish-Line\/e81f4b51-0436-4d4a-8977-3d9d2859eb06\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">website<\/a>. \u201cThat\u2019s basically what I\u2019m doing. I\u2019m getting that knowledge for when it\u2019s time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Elam is working 20 hours a week on the floor and stocking shelves in the back.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEverybody was surprised when I started,\u201d he said. \u201cThey were like, \u2018Why? You got enough money.\u2019 But it\u2019s not about the money. It\u2019s just me building.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And how is Elam in pushing merchandise?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI didn\u2019t realize there was so much organization, so much planning. I didn\u2019t realize there was so much to it,\u201d Elam said. \u201cI just thought you\u2019d say you want a shoe, so then you\u2019d go back and grab a shoe. There\u2019s way more to it. You have number coding. You have color coding, all of that. I just realized that there\u2019s more to it than I thought.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Elam is also taking classes at the University of Florida to finish his degree. Makes you really wonder what you are doing with all your time.
