After weeks of being turned down the Cleveland Browns are on the verge of announcing that Mike Pettine will be their head coach for the 2014 season.<\/p>\n

Pettine, 47, was the defensive coordinator of the Buffalo Bills this season after previously serving in the same role for the New York Jets from 2009-2012.<\/p>\n

The \u00a0Browns were rebuffed by Denver Broncos offensive coordinator Adam Gase early Tuesday and were known to at-least be considering Seattle Seahawks defensive coordinator Dan Quinn.<\/p>\n

I’m hearing Mike Pettine is going to get Browns job. A deal is close.<\/p>\n

There are a few reports out of Cleveland that no agreement has been made, but it appears to simply be a matter of hours before something is announced officially.<\/p>\n

Rob Chudzinski was fired after just one year as the Browns head coach with a 4-12 record. The team owes him more than $10 million for seasons he will not be coaching the team. Coordinators Ray Horton and Norv Turner were allowed to join other clubs.<\/p>\n

With no quarterback or running back on the roster the Browns will have to make wise use of their draft picks. The team is reportedly interested in trading up<\/a> to draft Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
