The Detroit Lions are targeting Jim Caldwell in their search for a new head coach.<\/p>\n

Caldwell was axed as the head coach of the Indianapolis Colts as the organization dumped anything to do with Peyton Manning. Caldwell\u00a0was 24-8 in his two seasons with Manning under center. After Manning missed the 2011 season Caldwell was axed for a 2-14 finish.<\/p>\n

The Ravens added Caldwell mid-way though the 2012 season en route to a Super Bowl victory. This season the Ravens offense took a major step back with the loss of Anquan Boldin via trade, injuries to tight ends and a decline in Ray Rice.<\/p>\n

Former Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Munchak is also being considered for the Lions head coach spot according to ESPN<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In many ways the Lions are similar to teams coached by Caldwell in Indianapolis with talent all over the offense.<\/p>\n
