\nFred Davis entered the season at the top of the depth chart at tight end for the Washington Redskins. Now Davis appears to be playing out the remaining days of the $2.5 million contract he signed in March.<\/p>\n

On Monday, NBC Washington reported that Davis had missed team meetings during the week leading up to the game against the San Francisco 49ers even as he knew he would be active.<\/p>\n

Davis played sparingly in the game and was not targeted by quarterback Robert Griffin III.<\/p>\n

Speaking to reporters<\/a> on Tuesday, Mike Shanahan did not deny the report even as he refused to shed any details.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t go through what we do with discipline with players, but if somebody does miss a meeting or if somebody is late, we\u2019ve got fines, we\u2019ve got possible suspensions if I feel a guy is not doing what he needs to do to help our football team win,\u201d Shanahan said Tuesday. \u201cAny type of discipline we do have \u2013 and we have some pretty strong discipline with missing meetings or being late, those type of things \u2013 is because everybody is accountable and everybody\u2019s time is very valuable. If I did have something like that with Fred, I would address him individually.\u201d<\/p>\n

Logan Paulsen played the majority of the game at tight end for the Redskins with Darrel Young inactive because of a hamstring injury. The Redskins fell to 3-8 on the season following a blowout loss to the 49ers on Monday.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
