{"id":5789,"date":"2013-10-08T15:04:00","date_gmt":"2013-10-08T19:04:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tireball.com\/nfl\/?p=5789"},"modified":"2013-10-08T15:04:00","modified_gmt":"2013-10-08T19:04:00","slug":"report-falcons-wr-julio-jones-seeks-second-opinion-on-wednesday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/tireball.com\/nfl\/2013\/10\/08\/report-falcons-wr-julio-jones-seeks-second-opinion-on-wednesday\/","title":{"rendered":"Report: Falcons WR Julio Jones seeks second opinion on Wednesday"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_5792\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5792\" style=\"width: 594px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-5792\" alt=\"Getty Images\" src=\"http:\/\/tireball.com\/nfl\/files\/2013\/10\/jones.jpg\" width=\"594\" height=\"418\" srcset=\"http:\/\/tireball.com\/nfl\/files\/2013\/10\/jones.jpg 594w, http:\/\/tireball.com\/nfl\/files\/2013\/10\/jones-300x211.jpg 300w, http:\/\/tireball.com\/nfl\/files\/2013\/10\/jones-50x35.jpg 50w, http:\/\/tireball.com\/nfl\/files\/2013\/10\/jones-70x50.jpg 70w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 594px) 100vw, 594px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-5792\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Getty Images<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The Atlanta Falcon&#8217;s season may of just got worse, as Monday night their No. 1 receiver Julio Jones injured his foot in the teams 30-28 loss to the New York Jets.<\/p>\n<p>FOX Sports Jay Glazer reported earlier that the Falcons &#8220;fear&#8221; Julio Jones will miss the rest of the season with the foot injury with Falcons coach Mike Smith saying that it is too soon to call it a season-ending injury.<\/p>\n<p>Smith acknowledged that &#8220;the first diagnosis was not encouraging&#8221; before confirming that Jones will seek a second opinion Wednesday in Charlotte, N.C.<\/p>\n<p>Jones&#8217; x-rays taken after the game were clean, but he underwent a CT scan Tuesday morning that might have indicated a more serious injury that has raised concerns, prompting the second opinion.<\/p>\n<p>Jones is second in receiving through five weeks with 580 yards, only behind New Orleans Saints WR\u00a0Jimmy Graham.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;He&#8217;s going to be a hard guy to replace, if we have to replace him,&#8221; Smith said Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Atlanta (1-4) has not had running back\u00a0Steven Jackson\u00a0since he suffered a hamstring injury in Week 2, and receiver\u00a0Roddy White\u00a0was knocked out of Monday&#8217;s game with a hamstring injury.\u00a0Harry Douglas\u00a0is listed as Jones&#8217; backup on Atlanta&#8217;s depth chart.
