Released last week by Tampa Bay after a series of barbs with the team the former first-round pick joins a team that already has Matt Cassel and Christian Ponder on the roster.<\/p>\n<p>Cassel was signed as a free agent in the offseason and started last week for the Vikings guiding them to their first win of the year while filling in for an injured Ponder.<\/p>\n<p>The news first broke at the end of Sunday&#8217;s names game between the 49ers and Texans by Pro Football Talk&#8217;s Mike Florio and then spread on twitter.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p>Josh Freeman is signing with Minnesota.<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AdamSchefter\/statuses\/387057792395128832\">October 7, 2013<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><br \/>\nWith Ponder expected to miss <a title=\"Christian Ponder fractured a rib near his heart, expected to miss additional time\" href=\"http:\/\/tireball.com\/nfl\/2013\/10\/02\/christian-ponder-fractured-a-rib-near-his-heart-expected-to-miss-additional-time\/\">additional time<\/a> with his rib injury, the Vikings felt the need to add another quarterback to their roster.<\/p>\n<p>Freeman played three games for Tampa Bay this season\u00a0throwing for 571 yards and compiling a 59.3 QB rating.
