Donovan McNabb had a great run as the quarterback of the Philadelphia Eagles. Prior to Thursday nights game against the Kansas City Chiefs the Eagles will retire McNabb’s No. 5 in front of the home crowd at Lincoln Financial Field.<\/p>\n

While this ensures that Andy Reid will be at the ceremony, there is something ironic with the guy linked most closely to McNabb’s career coaching for the opposing team in Thursday’s game.<\/p>\n

Then again it is not like McNabb is fully behind the offensive game plan of first year Eagles coach Chip Kelly.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo me, it\u2019s just a fad,\u201d McNabb told CSN Philly<\/a>.<\/p>\n

There are some noticeable differences between the new Eagles offense and the one that McNabb ran as the quarterback of the team from 1999-2009.<\/p>\n

\u201cI enjoyed the West Coast offense, I enjoyed the no-huddle and two-minute drill we ran, but I\u2019m not trying to run 90 plays in a game,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Sour grapes or does McNabb have a point?<\/p>\n

The Eagles tied up the game last week with enough time on the clock that their opponents – the San Diego Chargers – were able to come down the field and kick a game winning field goal.<\/p>\n
