The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will not be wearing their traditional throwback uniforms in two weeks. Tampa Bay had planned to wear the uniforms as part of their Hispanic heritage celebration.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday the team released a statement<\/a> which read:<\/p>\n

\u201cWhile we regret that our players will not be able to don the \u2018Bucco Bruce\u2019 helmet and traditional orange, red and white uniforms, there simply was no acceptable way to meet the requirements\u00a0of the new policy while staying true to the spirit of our throwback theme.\u201d<\/p>\n

The problem is the white helmet that the Buccaneers were planning to wear according to the statement.<\/p>\n

“This change will ensure compliance with a new league policy that restricts the use of alternate player helmets. The league-wide guideline, which requires players to use the same helmet for all games during the season, was recently implemented based on the strong recommendation by the NFL\u2019s Head, Neck and Spine Committee as well as the Player Safety Advisory Panel.”<\/p>\n
