The NFL \u00a0has suspended Tampa Bay \u00a0Buccaneers safety\u00a0Dashon Goldson for one game for his illegal helmet-to-helmet hit on a defenseless New Orleans Saints running back\u00a0Darren Sproles in Sunday’s Week 2 loss.\u00a0\u00a0He is appealing the suspension.<\/p>\n

The NFL has suspended #Bucs<\/a> S Dashon Goldson for one game for his hit on Darren Sproles. Helmet-to-helmet on a defenseless player.<\/p>\n

Goldson’s suspension is the result of \u00a0“a flagrant and repeat violation of rules prohibiting hits to the head and neck area.”<\/p>\n

Goldson was flagged 15 yards for unnecessary roughness on the Sproles hit. This isn’t the first time, as the previous week, Goldson was fined $30,000 for committing a personal foul on Jets TE Jeff Cumberland.<\/p>\n

Goldson has 15 personal foul penalties since the start of the 2010 season. He\u00a0is in his first season with Tampa after signing a five-year, $41.25 million contract in the off season. He played his first six seasons with the San Francisco 49ers.<\/p>\n

As of now, Goldson is set to miss next week’s game against the Patriots. Ahmad Black will likely get the start in his place.<\/p>\n

Goldson will be eligible to return in Week 4 against the Cardinals at home.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
