Following Sunday&#8217;s loss to the Dallas Cowboys the Panthers found themselves 1-5 on the season. Panthers quarterback Cam Newton said that the team needed to take <a href=\"http:\/\/tireball.com\/nfl\/2012\/10\/22\/cam-newton-thinks-losing-is-boring-wants-accountability\/\">accountability<\/a> for losing.<\/p>\n<p>On Monday morning the team fired it&#8217;s general manager.Marty Hurney had been the general manager of the team since 2002 and had helped build a team that appeared in two NFC Championship games as well as the 2003 Super Bowl but with the Panthers not having a winning season since 2008 the team felt a change needed to be made.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I understand this decision by [Panthers owner Jerry Richardson] and will always have an extremely close relationship with him.
