Best, drafted 30th overall in the 2010 NFL Draft played in 22 games for the Lions.<\/p>\n<p>He saw action in all 16 games as a rookie in 2010, but was limited to only six games in 2011.<\/p>\n<p>Best suffered a concussion and\u00a0 was placed on Physically Unable to Perform on August 27, 2012 and missed the duration of the 2012 season. Best has been dealing with repercussions of the concussion ever since.<\/p>\n<p>Best entered the NFL having suffered at least one serious concussion during his final season at Cal. In 2011, he suffered two head injuries: one in the exhibition season and one in an Oct. 16 loss to the San Francisco 49ers that ended his season and ultimately his Lions career.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJahvid is as fine a person and professional as I have ever worked with,\u201d Lions Executive Vice-President of Football Operations and General Manager Martin Mayhew\u00a0said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe was the consummate teammate and always did everything asked of him. We wish Jahvid the very best in all his future endeavors and have no doubt that he will be successful in whatever path he chooses.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In his two seasons with Detroit, Best totaled 945 rushing yards on 255 carries (3.7 avg) and six touchdowns, as well as 85 receptions for 774 yards (9.1 avg) and three touchdowns.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Detroit Lions announced today that they have released RB Jahvid Best.
