The team has restructured the defensive tackle&#8217;s contract for the upcoming season.<\/p>\n<p>There was some speculation that Ratliff would be released by the Cowboys but that will not be the case after the team converted $3.66 million of his salary into a bonus. The move will save the Cowboys $2.93 million against the salary cap.<\/p>\n<p>Ratliff was injured much of last season and even got into a <a href=\"http:\/\/tireball.com\/nfl\/2012\/12\/09\/jerry-jones-and-jay-ratcliff-have-heated-argument-following-cowboys-win\/\" target=\"_blank\">heated exchange<\/a> with owner Jerry Jones towards the end of the season.<\/p>\n<p>Dan Connor was released saving the Cowboys another $3 million.Connor and the Cowboys had talked about a pay cut but apparently the team felt it was easier to simply release the linebacker.<\/p>\n<p>The Cowboys had been $6.8 million over the salary cap at the beginning of the day and now are slightly under before Tuesday&#8217;s deadline of 3 pm.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Jay Ratliff will remain with the Dallas Cowboys.
