Colin Kaepernick is taking the San Francisco 49ers to the Super Bowl. On February 3rd they will face off against the Baltimore Ravens.<\/p>\n

Aside from a bunch of commercials promoting Doritos, Pepsi and Go Daddy<\/a> one thing that will garner a lot of attention is the tattoos on the arm of the second-year player Kaepernick.<\/p>\n

A lot has been made about the ink on Kaepernicks arm but exactly what are they and what is the meaning behind them?<\/em><\/p>\n

Many of Kaepernick’s tattoos feature motivational sayings, most from the Bible. He looks to draw inspiration from his body art.<\/p>\n

“Against All Odds,” is emblazoned across his chest. A version of Psalm 27:3 “Though an army besiege me, my heart will not be afraid” can be read on his left shoulder. Those words are surrounded by: “God Will Guide Me.”<\/p>\n

On Kaepernick’s back he has a mural of angels and demons that took 18 hours over a couple of sessions to complete.<\/p>\n

He has “faith” inscribed on his right bicep and “to God the glory” on his left, which he kisses when he scores a touchdown. The celebration has inspired a meme<\/a> known as “Kaepernicking.”<\/p>\n

Kaepernick said that the signature move is kind of his way of telling people that he doesn’t care what people think of his tattoos.<\/p>\n

“I got them for me and to show people this is what I believe in. And God has brought me this far. He’s laid out a phenomenal path for me and I can do nothing but thank him.”<\/p>\n
