Even with a late season bungling of their quarterback situation, the Giants have left no doubt that they are planning to enter 2018 with Eli Manning as their quarterback.<\/p>\n

This is what Manning has wanted all along. Even with the Giants having the No. 2 overall pick and speculation circling that his eventual replacement could be drafted, Manning said he was fine with whatever avenue the Giants choose to go.<\/p>\n

“Hey, the Giants, it\u2019s always, it\u2019s about, they got to draft, you know, whether it\u2019s the future or for now, they got to figure out how to put the best players on the field,” Manning said via North Jersey.com<\/a>. “Hey, whatever they draft I\u2019m fine with, it\u2019s about me doing my job and that\u2019s playing quarterback. All I can worry about is doing my job.\u00a0I got to go out there and compete and win games and so if I do that everything else will work itself out.”<\/p>\n

Manning stopped short of embracing a mentor role to someone such as Sam Darnold or Josh Rosen – two quarterbacks who could be in play for the Giants during the draft.<\/div>\n

\u00a0“Yes, in a sense.\u00a0I wouldn\u2019t look at it as that role. I would look at it as my job to prepare and compete and be ready to play each and every game and in that process you\u2019re always talking football. You\u2019re always helping out the guys in the room. With Davis Webb this year, with Geno [Smith], you\u2019re always helping them out. Nothing changes. It\u2019s about doing your job but also helping the other guys around you and having great communication in the quarterback room.”<\/div>\n

The Giants are going to need more than just better play by Manning if they are to return to the playoffs in 2018. The biggest thing the Giants will need is a healthy roster.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
