Hasselbeck, much like Andrew Luck before him and Charlie Whitehurst after, saw his season end after injury.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Colts ended up playing five different quarterbacks this season with Josh Freeman and Ryan Lindley also playing in the Week 17 finale.<\/p>\n<p>Certainly there are worse backup quarterbacks than Hasselbeck across the NFL as evident by the Cowboys who were 1-11 in games started by three different players.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Kevin Bowen of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.colts.com\/news\/article-mailbag\/Colts-Mailbag-Weekend-Edition-Will-Duron-Carter-Be-A-Colt-Come-Monday\/229de8f8-1a95-47fd-af4f-60d0557815a8\" target=\"_blank\">Colts.com<\/a> speculates in his mailbag column that the 40-year-old will return next season.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Let me start off by saying (and this is just my opinion), I think\u00a0Matt Hasselbeck\u00a0wants to come back for a 19<sup>th<\/sup> NFL season. In listening to Hasselbeck the final few weeks of the season, his play this season (when healthy) has him knowing he can still play into his 40s. Plus, he loves the Colts locker room. His family doesn\u2019t seem to be pulling him away from the game at all. If anything, they seem to want him to keep playing.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>A free agent to be, the Colts will have to work out a new contract with Hasselbeck if the two sides want to stay together in 2016.
