On Tuesday the Eagles fired the coach with one game remaining in his third season.<\/p>\n<p>Kelly&#8217;s time with the Eagles featured high expectations of a fast pace offense but resulted only in one playoff game, a loss in his first season.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We appreciate all the contributions that Chip Kelly made and wish him every success going forward,&#8221; owner Jeffrey Lurie said in a statement released by the team on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>The Eagles will have Pat Shurmur take over as their interim coach in Week 17&#8217;s finale against the New York Giants who feature another coach in Tom Coughlin who very well could be coaching his last game.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Chip Kelly era in Philadelphia can only be described as a failure.
